Hill Paul is an impressive red brick building. In this photo, the bright blue sky is reflected in the canal.

The impressive Hill Paul building is now luxury apartments. It was built in 1898 for Williamson Tratt & Co, a clothing business, taken over in 1902 by Hill Paul & Co. The business was successful for many years, but production finally stopped in 1989. It overlooks the canal which is gradually being restored to use as a navigable waterway.

The view down the canal shows water in the canal, but a dam in the foreground is where navigation ended in early 2012.

Looking back along the canal towards Wallbridge. In the foreground, the canal is dammed off whilst work takes place at the lock.
